Welcome to Coonificent! We
are a small Maine Coon cattery located in
central Connecticut. We fell in love with
adopted with this gentle, intelligent &
beautiful breed when we adopted our first
Maine Coon cat in the late 1990's, and have
been enjoying their company ever since. Our
breeding program was started in 2005 and we
were very fortunate to be mentored and
supported by some very special Maine Coon
breeder friends including Patty Koo of
Coonoak, Rae Sammis of Mainelyclassic, David
Billingsley of Cloistercoon, Jean Thompson &
Jennifer Sable of Broadsway, Doris Blakesley
of Dorwill, Debbie & Alex McKniff of Blazin
Arrow, and Rita, Kim & Kelly Berg of
Kelimcoons. Their guidance, friendship,
trust, good humor, and support have been the
basis for our ongoing enjoyment of the cat
fancy!
Coonificent's breeding
program is focused on health, temperament
and the development of our preferred
conformation type. While the breed is known
for their gentle, intelligent, easy going,
comical & 'dog-like' personalities, we
believe the socialization process is
critical to facilitating these traits. Our
Maine Coons are very well socialized,
happily coexisting with our canine and human
family. We also have two Leonbergers, the
'Gentle Giants' of the dog world. Our
kittens are raised in our home, receiving
the diverse interactions, experiences and
play necessary to prepare them for a smooth
adjustment to their new homes and families.
We focus
on minimizing the potential health risks
that can affect all pedigreed animals, and
routinely screen for specific diseases such
as Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (HCM) and hip
dysplasia through DNA testing,
echocardiography and radiographic imaging.
Our cattery is in our home in
Glastonbury, CT . We make appointments with
people who are seriously looking to purchase
a Maine Coon Cat or Kitten in the near
future and who are interested in the kittens
and/or cats that we currently have

Another great option for meeting our
beautiful Maine Coons (and us of course),
is by attending one of the TICA cat shows in
the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions.
